For years, Jana Bloom struggled with sluggish mornings. “I used to wake up groggy and stiff, no matter how much sleep I got,” she says.
Doctors couldn’t pinpoint a specific condition, but her symptoms—brain fog, aching joints, and mild swelling—suggested low-grade inflammation. Rather than turn to medication, Jana began exploring natural ways to reduce it. Her biggest breakthrough came when she redesigned her morning routine.
“I realized how I started my day affected everything—my energy, digestion, even my mood,” Jana says. So she committed to a few small, consistent changes.
Now, her mornings begin with a tall glass of warm water infused with lemon and a pinch of turmeric. “It sounds simple, but it really wakes up my system,” she shares. Next, she moves through a short stretching sequence focused on the hips, back, and shoulders. “I don’t go into full yoga mode—just ten minutes of movement to get circulation going.”
Breakfast used to be cereal or toast, but Jana found those spiked her blood sugar and left her sluggish. These days, her go-to is a smoothie packed with spinach, frozen berries, flaxseed, and almond butter. Sometimes, she’ll add a scoop of plant-based protein or half an avocado for extra creaminess. “It keeps me full and calm—no mid-morning crash.”
Jana also makes time for stillness. Before checking emails or scrolling social media, she sits by the window with her smoothie and journals for five minutes. “It grounds me. I write about how I want to feel, not just what I want to do.”
The difference in her overall health has been profound. “Within two weeks, my stiffness eased. My brain felt clearer, and I actually looked forward to mornings,” she says. Jana now helps others design their own healing routines through her coaching work, always reminding them: “You don’t have to overhaul everything. Just start with one thing and build from there.”
