After a round of antibiotics left her feeling drained and bloated, Ines Hart knew something was off. “The medicine cleared the infection, but it felt like it took the rest of me with it,” she says.
Like many, she hadn’t realized how much antibiotics can disrupt the gut microbiome. In the weeks that followed, she struggled with digestion, low energy, and a foggy mind that made even simple tasks feel harder.
Rather than panic, Ines approached her healing with care—and food. She began building a gentle, gut-friendly meal plan with the goal of rebalancing her inner ecosystem. “I didn’t want to overload my body. I wanted to rebuild, meal by meal.”
She included fermented foods like kimchi and coconut yogurt in small amounts, soft cooked vegetables, bone broth (as a flexitarian exception), and lots of hydration. She kept things simple and intentional, giving her body space to recover.
The changes weren’t instant—but they were consistent. Her digestion steadied. Her skin looked clearer. And, most importantly, she started to feel like herself again.
“It reminded me how much food can do,” Ines reflects. “Not just to fuel us—but to restore us.”
