Lola Wynn’s Gut-Healthy Vegan Desserts

Lola Wynn has a sweet tooth. “I will always say yes to dessert,” she laughs. But for years, her love of sugary treats clashed with uncomfortable bloating, unpredictable digestion, and constant fatigue. After countless appointments and elimination diets, one specialist finally connected the dots: her gut health was off balance.

“I was shocked to learn how much sugar and dairy can impact your microbiome,” Lola recalls. That realization didn’t mean giving up dessert—it just meant rethinking it. So she took her creativity into the kitchen, determined to find a way to satisfy her cravings and support her gut.

Her first experiments were rough. “The first batch of black bean brownies tasted like dirt,” she jokes. But over time, she learned how to use gut-friendly ingredients—like almond flour, chia seeds, coconut yogurt, and naturally sweet fruits—to build treats that didn’t leave her feeling heavy or bloated.

One of her go-to recipes now is a creamy mango chia pudding made with oat milk and topped with coconut flakes. “It tastes indulgent but it’s packed with fiber and probiotics,” she says. Another favorite is her avocado cacao mousse, sweetened with dates. “It’s rich, but light. And my stomach thanks me every time.”

What surprised Lola the most was how her body responded. Her digestion improved, the bloating subsided, and even her skin looked clearer. “When your gut is happy, everything else just works better,” she says.

Sharing her vegan desserts with friends became her favorite kind of food activism. “No one believes me when I say these brownies are gut-friendly,” she laughs. “But after they try them, they always ask for the recipe.”

Lola emphasizes that gut health isn’t just about cutting things out. It’s about adding the right ingredients in—like fiber, prebiotics, and natural probiotics. Her desserts prove that healthy can still be decadent, and that taking care of your gut doesn’t have to mean skipping out on what you love.

Now, she’s working on a small e-book to share her favorite gut-loving vegan treats. “Dessert should be joyful,” she says. “And when it supports your health, that joy lasts longer.”
