Fenna Lowell was not raised on a vegan diet. She even makes a joke about how cheese used to be her favourite food group.
However, after she began experimenting with plant-based eating, she found a way of life that not only fit with her values but also improved her mood, making her feel lighter, more lucid, and more invigorated.
Nevertheless, she recalls how daunting it was at first. Fenna remarks, “There’s a lot of noise online.” “It can be hard to know where to begin when everyone is telling you to buy this or cut this.”
Her strategy? Don’t complicate things. Fenna started by concentrating on dishes she already liked, albeit with a few minor adjustments.
Pasta mixed with lentils and roasted vegetables, a robust chilli made with beans and spices, and a stir-fry made with tofu rather than chicken. She aimed for consistency rather than perfection.
She also discovered that maintaining the lifestyle requires balance. “Eating vegetables isn’t the only thing,” she says. ”
You need whole grains, healthy fats, and protein—things that make a meal sustainable and satisfying.” Fenna saw the shift as an opportunity for exploration rather than deprivation.
With the same philosophy, she now guides others into veganism gradually: take your time, maintain your curiosity, and don’t be scared to try new things. She states, “It’s not a finish line.” “It’s a journey, and the experience should be enjoyable.”
